What happened
iFlytek has announced a two-step rollout for its Spark X2.5 series. On September 1, it will open-source two end-side general large models, Spark X2.5-4B and Spark X2.5-1.7B, which natively support context windows of up to 1 million tokens. The models are built with enhanced capabilities for agents, mathematics, and general understanding.
These edge models target end-side scenarios including automotive systems, smart hardware, and the Internet of Things. Then, on September 7, the company will officially release the Spark X2.5 (293B) base model, which is set to further upgrade core abilities in code generation and agent performance.
The company previously shared at its 2026 semi-annual results briefing that it plans to introduce a new flagship general large model built on fully domestic computing power at this year's global 1024 Developer Festival.
