What happened
Sunwoda (300207) said on Sept 4 evening that its subsidiary Sunwoda Power Technology plans a C++ round of capital increase, bringing in Beijing Ideal Auto as a strategic investor. Ideal Auto will inject 2.65 billion yuan, subscribing to roughly 1.4 billion yuan in new registered capital and taking an 8.79% stake after the round.
After the transaction, Sunwoda Huizhou New Energy's stake in Sunwoda Power will drop from 26.38% to 24.06%. Sunwoda said the funding is intended to strengthen Sunwoda Power's financial position, lower its debt-to-asset ratio and reduce its debt burden.
Why it matters
Ideal Auto's entry marks a further step in the growing alignment between automakers and battery suppliers. Sunwoda Power has stepped up its capital-raising pace this year with earlier C and C+ rounds, and now a major carmaker is joining as a strategic investor.
In a market shaped by intensifying competition and price pressure, battery makers increasingly use automaker investments to secure order commitments and ease funding needs. Sunwoda Power remains loss-making but is narrowing losses, reporting a net loss of 324 million yuan in H1 2026 while revenue reached 15.529 billion yuan.
