What happened

On Sept. 5, the Shangpin Zhaipei × Qiyuan Robotics Guangzhou experience center began trial operations on the sixth floor of Guangzhou's Grandview Mall. It is billed as the world's first physical store built around the 'Robot-Ready Home' concept.

The roughly 400-square-meter site embeds the Q1 and T1 consumer humanoid robots into realistic home settings such as living room, bedroom, kitchen and children's room. The partners describe it as the first large-scale public experience and sales scenario placing humanoid robots in an actual family living environment.

The opening follows a strategic agreement in July at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai and public pre-orders for the two robots in August. A joint venture, Shangyuan Zhiqi (Guangzhou) Robotics Technology Co., Ltd., has also been set up to push forward the combination of home space design and robot technology.

Why it matters

Consumer-grade embodied intelligence has mainly appeared in labs, trade shows and short-term demos. This store tests whether such robots can operate in realistic domestic settings where floor plans, room layouts and furniture placement differ from home to home.

Pairing a home-space-focused company with a robot developer targets a key bottleneck for home robots: adapting to messy, non-standard indoor environments rather than just improving hardware performance.

The walk-in, experience-first format could help consumers move from curiosity to purchase, offering a new retail model for humanoid robots built around living scenarios rather than product showcases.

Key facts

The Guangzhou center is described as the world's first 'Robot-Ready Home' physical store and the first to put humanoid robots at scale inside a real home-like environment for public access.

Qiyuan Robotics opened public pre-orders for the Q1 and T1 consumer humanoid robots on Aug. 23, with initial units expected to ship in September.

Shangpin Zhaipei and Qiyuan Robotics have together established the joint venture Shangyuan Zhiqi (Guangzhou) Robotics Technology Co., Ltd.

What to watch next

First deliveries from the Q1 and T1 pre-order round are expected in September, offering an early sign of whether home humanoid robots can move from demo to daily use.

In October, an 800-square-meter humanoid robot experience store is planned at Shangpin Zhaipei's Financial City headquarters, adding a deeper immersion site alongside the mall location.
